Happy Birthday to my big guy!!!!

Anthony is two today!!!  Poor little guy is still sick, but he's in such great cheer!  He's watching Tassi (Taxi) with Jacques and making car noises so realistic, I can't tell which is the movie and which is him!!

Leave him  lots of comments, please!!

The down side to blogging

The great thing about blogs is that I can let everyone know what's going on with us all at once.  No need for mulitudes of emails etc that I never end up writing.  the down side is that even though you all know all about us, unless you have a blog too, I don't know what's up with you...  There are so many of you I haven't heard from in ages!!  That's what the comment button is for!  So, here's a challenge to those I haven't heard from, send me comments or drop me an email!

hugs

Potty Update for those interested

(I guess that would just be mom...)

About 50/50 at the moment.  He still has the diarrhea so I'm completely impressed that he can hold that til he gets to the potty. When he did go in his diaper today it was because he was sleeping or not at home, so we're doing good!!!  Can't believe this, he's not even 2, not until saturday anyway!!

shiny carts and freezing produce aisle

So yesterday, Anthony and I tried a new grocery store.  Carrefour was on strike (what? stikes, in France...hah!!) and a new Intermarché opened up near by so off we went, I'm totally thinking of switching now.  Here's why

PROs
*totally cool carts, not only do they have the ones with the car in front, with THREE baskets, but the regular carts are sectioned so you can organise as you shop!!!  Anyone who has been grocery shopping with me knows how anal I am about this!!  There's even a small basket by your feet, it has a rubber front in case you kick it (which is hard to do actually)

*everything was well stocked and faced (thought of you Dad) which was unheard of for Carrefour first thing on a Monday morning

*also another Monday, Carrefour no-no, fabulously fresh fruits and veggies, even the broccoli, Helen!!

*on top of being all new and shiny the place was spotless.  At Carrefour the cleaning lady rode around in her little, annoying, motorised cleaning thingy, constantly, but still the floors were dirty, especially in the produce.

*they have a real butcher, where they cut your meat and grind your hamburg when you ask for it.

*It was a smaller place, so it was a lot faster to go through, even though I had to search for things as I didn't know the layout of the store.

*Its not in a mall like Carrefour so you don't have to walk a mile just to get to the store.

*I got a parking space right next to the door, which is so great with a little guy.  Plus, they don't have all the extra stuff I don't need so there was no impulse buying.

*the bathrooms are right inside the door, not all the way at the other end of the mall.  Very convenient for a preggo!!

CONs
*The route to get there is a bit busier, plus there was contruction.  With all the traffic lights it was a bit long to get there.

*The store is smaller, so there was less selection, I basically found everything I usually buy except Jacques' puddings and my yogurt.  Plus, they only had one type of Danao juice (can't live with out that in the mornings)

*the cheese girl was a dork, she butchered Matthieu's roquefort and he was not impressed, lol!!

*Even though I went to the handicapped/preggo cash register, it was too small.  There was lots of room for the cart and all, just not enough space after the cash register for me to pack my bags, again, very anal about how things go in my bags, need lots of room, so this is a big one!!

*The freshest milk had a date 3 days later.  There was tons of it too!  There was even a bunch with yesterday's date.  Hopefully this was a one time thing...

I have yet to look over the receipt with last weeks from Carrefour, but from the total it looks cheaper.  Anthony and I will try again next week and hopefully we'll have ourselves a new grocery store!!

Thanks for reading my totally boring, grocery store blog.  We now return to your regular scheduled blogging. :)

Holy BIG boys Batman!!!

Well, both of my boys have surprised me big time in the last 15 hours or so.  First, Jacques was out riding his bike with Matthieu while I gave Anthony his bath.  We were in his room putting on his pjs when we heard Matthieu calling from outside.  We look out and there's Jacques riding his bike with NO TRAINING WHEELS!!!  The kid's 3.5 and never ceases to amaze me in his agility and sporty nature!  He had a few tumbles, but it looks like he won't need much more practice until he's sure on the wheels.

Warning:  Anthony's story may not be interesting to those without children, and you may find that its gross with TMI, LOL!!  This morning, I was taking Anthony to get dressed.  His bum is still sore so I wasn't even going to bother changing his diaper, since it was pretty dry having just been changed at about 5am due to a painful, nasty stinky.  He had other ideas, he pointed to the bathroom and the potty.  I took him in, sat him down, gave him a book and went to get dressed, thinking he was just stalling.  When I came back he had made a stinky, and boy was he proud!!  Then, after taking Jacques to school we went grocery shopping.  Two and a half hours after his stinky (with no pee mind you) we came home, he had a dry diaper and asked for the potty again, pee and another stinky!!  Holy cow, could he be training!!!  Put one of those half diapers/half pull-ups on him and we'll see how it goes.  CRAZY!!

Busy month!

I think May is definitely the month with the most *card* holidays for us.  Almost 10 birthdays (plus 2 over due), Canadian mother's day adds 4 (my sis's first), two thank yous, a wedding card.  It adds up to 18 cards plus two birthday tags for some scrappin' friends. All but two are due out with in a week!  Plus, I have Anthony's invitations to write up and send out by tomorrow!  Good thing I got those done in the hospital.   With all these card and the state of my house, doesn't look like I'll be scrapping photos for a long while!!

In 6 days he'll be 2!

My poor little guy, he's got the worst case of diarrhea and diaper rash i've ever seen.  He's doing fine until he has to go potty, he's no where near trained so when he fills his diaper (which is pretty often) it stings his red little bum so bad he screams.  He realises that it'll feel better once we change him, but first, the actual changing is  really going to hurt.  Zincofax wasn't doing anything for his poor little bum so Matthieu and Jacques went to the pharmacie (there's only one open in the whole town on Sundays so they were gone almost an hour trying to find the stupid thing...).  Meanwhile he went on the potty for the very first time, smart boy!!

So in all this, he was playing outside with his Dad and Jacques while I stayed to do a bit of housework and make some cards.  In he comes, with his little sunhat and overalls, carring a dandilion!  The sweetest expression on his face, he beamed with pride!!  What a lucky mom I am.  BTW the flower is in a crystal vase on my kitchen table!
