Behind the Scenes of My Business Blog Tag

I am cheating today... GASP!  It's been pouring down rain all day and it's so dark and dreary here that I can't seem to get a good photo of my handwritten post (or anything for that matter) and I hate the way the handwritten pages look when it's dark, soooo, here's a typed post for a change ;)

I was tagged by the awesome Sarah from Sarah Shotts Storytelling and the fabulous Trish from Jewels by Trish with another blog tag from April of Blacksburg Belle.  Today, I'm going to take you behind the scenes here at the Hooting Pirate :D  Here goes!

Question 1: What’s your two to three sentence bio? (You know, what the heck do you do?)
I'm a scrapbooker, but not the stereotype granny in a rocking chair!  As a modern scrapbooker I am a storyteller, a photographer, a designer, a mixed media artist, a historian and most importantly a memory keeper.

Question 2: What’s your favorite part of your job?
I absolutely adore sharing with others.  Whether it be teaching, selling my projects or simply story telling.  I love sharing my world with others.

Question 3: What’s your least favorite part of your job?
Going to the Post Office.

Question 4: What are the top three tools you use the most in your work?
My Nikon (to take photos for my pages and to take photos of my pages and projects) my Silhouette and a .3 tip black felt pen.

Question 5: What business goal would you love to reach before the end of the year?
I would love for my Christmas products (planners and cards coming really, really soon!) to be well received and successful.

Question 6: Who are three creatives that inspire you?
Jascha Hoste-He photographs forgotten buildings and things and makes them beautiful again.
Ashli Oliver-I'm taking Supplies on Hand from May Flaum and Ashli's projects have been so very inspiring!
Kris Windley-Her words!  Oh how I wish I could write like she does.  I would love to be able to tell my stories exactly how they feel in my heart, and she does it so magically.

Explore-discover-grow
the painted, woven and stitched circles were inspired by Ashli :D

Question 7: What do you listen to (if anything) while you work?
I love listening to crafty podcasts and watch videos while I work.  I listed lots of crazy cool crafty sites to inspire you here.

Question 8: Morning person or night owl?
Neither, I'm a middle of the day person, always have been.  Anything before 7am is jsut gross (even 6:59, there's something about that 6) and I can't stay up late.  However life decided that it wants me to be a morning person so I'm up at 6 (sometimes before, ack!) with the baby, then workout at 6:15 all before I get the kids up and ready for school. Blech.

Question 9: How many employees do you have and what are the main things they do for you?
Just me, myself and I.

Question 10: What’s your favorite social media platform?
INSTAGRAM!! It's so inspiring and I love how easy it is and how few rabbit holes I can get lost down :D

Question 11: What’s your least favorite social media platform?
Twitter, I'm not sure why, it's just not my thing.

Question 12: What works best when it comes to marketing your business?
Guest blog posts and I have one coming up pretty soon, I'll keep you posted! It's an exciting one!

Question 13: What’s one thing about your business that your blog readers probably don’t know?
I really enjoy making things for people and all I really want to do is to share my stuff and help people out.

Question 14: If your business were a fashion accessory, what would it be?
It would be a vintage locket with a treasured photo inside that had a very romantic story to go along with it ;)

Question 15: What’s your top tip for someone who wants to do something similar to you for a career?
Just do it! Hop in where you are.  You'll never be 100% ready because it's not something that you can learn about and then do.  You have to learn as you go. :D  Good luck and make it fun!

Okay, so now it's my turn to tag :D

Kris Windley (see number 6) - right back atcha ;)
Melissa Shanhun - She is so motivated, motivating and productive that I want a peek behind the scenes!
